Rather than another mini-pet I'd like a quest token that would give 2 year old players access to a unique quest, perhaps finding Gwen or more clues to her whereabouts.
OR
A new hero from Tyria to Unlock, a Charr or Grawl maybe.
But if it has to be a mini pet -
A minature Frog
A minature Lich Lord
A minature White Mantle
And a minature Gwen

Perhaps with so many people saying yes to miniatures, and many others saying no and giving other ideas. Why not just create a way for the person to choose what type of item they want? Give them like a like receipt for a item type of their choice that will be redeemable at the storage npc whenever they choose to redeem it.
The receipt could give them their choice of choosing between a random special maxed out weapon for their profession, armor, a miniature, a rune, or some other upgrades. The list could go on. This might be more difficult to implement into the game, but I think it'd solve the problem of everyone disagreeing on what to get for their birthday

I really like the idea of a title like Veteran or something along those lines.

This would indeed be the best way to do it, but i just cant ever see it happening. I dont think ANet want us to be able to choose, but it to be random all over again.

I would like to have a gold weapon which is customized for your character and you can choose what are the stats, skin and name of the weapon...
That would be a practical, unique yet untradeable item that your character can use... unlike miniatures...
But if it had to be a miniature... well... i hope to get miniature storage or maybe mini grenth?

No titles or something that cannot be traded -> those lead to DISCRIMINATION.
"Forming party only 2 year-olds accepted! Show emote/title at storage!"

It should be something cute and gimmicky, IMO. More miniatures would be fine, or costumes or auras (or party balloons, as I previously suggested). All this talk of there already being too many miniatures is missing the point that most of us don't have many. I've had one previous birthday mini and a bunch of pigs from the Canthan New Year - I'd be happy with more mini's.
I would like to see more thought put into them, though. Last year I got a White Temple Guardian for my Prophecies Ranger. That sucked, not because the Temple Guardian is a bad pet (I actually rather like it), but it doesn't seem appropriate for a Prophecies character to be given a Factions pet. Also, having different levels of rarity for birthday gifts is really irritating. Since we're not "earning" them through skill or work, no-one should be rewarded more than other players. Whatever the final gift - all gold or none gold, please!
I also agree with those who want a tradeable item - I wouldn't likely trade mine (unless it's socks!), but I do hate it when people begrudge others doing as they please, all so they can have some elitist little badge of superiority.

I'm still a year and a half away from my second birthday, but: miniature rain or rock beetle (greased lightning is effectively unobtainable, and I like the 'original' better anyway). I've loved these critters ever since I first saw them. They're just so cute!

I think the present should be somethign that doesnt give you advantage over "younger" players, so definately a no to armor or weapons as long as its not only a unique skin. More storage would be nice too, but also its not fair against younger players.
As Minipet I tend to something funny too, like
Mini Yak
Mini frog
Mini Djinn (how about a dyeable djinn)?
Mini Dwayna, Lyssa or one of the other gods
I would prefer new moves or a new DANCE over minpets tho...a dance like in the CEs with glow. Or just a special new glow. Yes. I think i like the glow best. Maybe a glow thats alos ther when u dont emote but only move and that trails after you. Preferably in purple Or dyable . In its unique-ness it would give credit to all those loyal players who stuck to GW for over 2 years.

What I'd really like for my 2nd birthday is a unique skin inscribable and customized (cannot be sold) weapon for my profession. One new weapon skin for each profession.
Something like this would be great too:

Ranger: bees/ butterflies fly round your character
Mesmer: purple spirals around body
Necromancer: dark twisting thorns circle slowly around legs

I'd love butterflies around my ranger.
But please no more minipets, or at least no human minipets... The "Miniaturization Signet" is a good concept though.
OK, if it has to be a minipet, i'd vote for:
Mini Glint
Mini Blessed Griffon
Mini Tiger
Mini Snow Wolf
Mini Celestials
Mini Drake
edit: Just read about a mount (like horse or dragon or unicorn): that would be great! (may be for chapter 4)

yea sure....
Do we see KoaBD Group only in game? no... R8 LB only? no... Carto title? no, so a title wont lead to discrimination...

What is a title anyway but a way to show accomplishments and to differentiate your character from others? Rank emotes, protector titles, gladiator titles, the 'show off' factor is already there, i doubt an age emote will make much of a difference.
Isn't one of Guild Wars's main selling points the idea that time played does not equate to how good your character is?
What would be more important is hours played, not years since character creation, and I doubt an age title would display how many hours the character has.
I personally like the idea of a title, or some other method for showing age that does not take up storage space. Mini's are cool, but something new would be nice.

If it has to be a mini pet, I say mini smite crawler. That way all the out of work bot farmers can at least get the feel of still being chased by a smite.

Yes it sells the games, but when you start playing the game you find out (PvE, and PvP) that the selling point is completly false.

If you think it's completely false you missed the point. Practice makes perfect, so of course time will improve you, ANET wasn't challenging that. But compared to almost every mmorpg, GW emphasizes skill and tactics over earned gear and level power. If you honestly think what they meant was that installing the game makes you an instant master, then of course you were wrong.

My humble opinion on some of the suggestions:
Title: So what if people see that you've had the character for 2+ years by title? It won't impress me to see it on anyone.
Aura: I like this idea if it's something you don't have to "trigger" to get it's effect (although being able to turn it ON or OFF is good - like choosing to show your cape or not). Glowing weapons, burning footsteps, etc. It adds a nice visual effect - and will satisfy those that like to "show off" (I'm not one of them - but I like the extra visual effects).
Emote: The Divine Aura is nice because it triggers whenever you do any emote... but I've got better things to do with my gaming time than stand around town dancing or spamming some emote. Running through town these days already looks like a circus parade as it is.
Customized Items: I like ideas like customized weapons. Ever since the birthday presents, I'm sure there are TONS of people keeping characters longer to get birthday gifts. I STRONGLY believe birthday gifts should not be tradeable and should be customized to the character. Having 9 mules pawn off their gifts for gold defeats the whole purpose of birthday gifts. Really, it should be one gift per character and only for that character (although I still believe it should be per ACCOUNT - but that's another story). This way, if you don't play that character - then your birthday gift just sits there (which is how it should be - not all the mules pawning their gifts away).
Birthday Island or NPC: I really LOVE this idea. Whether it's mini pets or some other reward... it would be great to be able to CHOOSE what gift you want. Nothing more disappointing than opening your gift and getting something you don't want/like... while someone else opens a Bone Dragon and instantly becomes rich (I personally would never sell mine for any amount of gold).
Conclusion: I originally wanted something more practical or useful - like more storage. However, if that will end up pissing off people that feel everyone deserves it and not just for birthdays... then I would love to get a (untradeable/customized) birthday token for an NPC or Birthday Island. It would allow you to select 1 mini pet and/or 1 permanent visual effect (like burning footsteps, weapon glow, etc.) for the character.
